policies for KML Schools’ athletic participation

The mission of Junior Charger Cheer Program is to offer grade school athletes an athletic, no-cut sport which develops safe cheerleading skills for the purposes of performing in local competitions, and ultimately developing their athletic cheer ability. Through Christian guidance, we will strive to teach our athletes the value of commitment, hard work, integrity, leadership, self-confidence, a positive attitude, and a love for the sport.  Most importantly, we will use our athletic gifts and personal spirit to honor Jesus in all we do.

Our intention is that the Junior Charger team provides an opportunity for athletes that do not have cheer/dance offered at their school.  Our hope is that our Junior Charger athletes participate in the athletic programs their grade schools have to offer. The intent of the Junior Charger Program is NOT to replace participation in Kettle Moraine Lutheran (KML) Schools’ programs.

It is important that our athletes support the schools they attend.  We highly recommend that if your school offers a viable cheer program, that you focus your efforts to support your school. Game cheering should be a primary focus for athletes. We DISCOURAGE participation in only our program. We hope our program will be an opportunity for those who do not have cheer/dance offered at their school or, to supplement participation in KML Schools’ athletics.

It is critical that KML Schools’ athletic participation not be negatively affected by participation in the Junior Charger Cheer Program.  We ask that parents inform us of KML Schools participation so we can assist in coordinating schedules and identifying conflicts.  We also ask that parents communicate any KML Schools’ conflicts to us as soon as possible.  We can truly minimize impact on the team as a whole the earlier this information is in our hands. A significant commitment will have to be made by families to take on KML Schools’ athletic participation and Junior Charger Cheer participation. This commitment should be fully considered before registering for Junior Charger Cheer.

For all competitions and mandatory performances, we will make sure to coordinate the performance schedule with any KML Schools’ teams that may also attend these competitions.  The athlete WILL be able to perform both for JCC and their school team, with adequate time to rest and change between performances.

Please also note that participation in the Junior Charger Program is NOT required to secure a spot on the Kettle Moraine Lutheran High School team; nor does participation in the Junior Charger Program ENSURE a spot on the High School Team.
